I just started renting a storage unit from Mini Mall Storage. In the first conversation I inquired about their advertisment of "one month free" - this is not as advertized. I was moving in 5 days before the end of the month and was told that the employee will "speak to their manager about getting a reduced rate for the following month because, although the promotion is only for the month you sign, they understand that it was annoying to get 5 days free instead of the month advertized". She assured me that they would see what they could do and she would get back to me, and I believed her. There was no communication after I signed the paperwork. I called in 9 days before possesion and the story was much different. There was no discount given, "nothing they could do", and their hands were tied at the company level. The advertisement for a month free is simply not true. Seldom have I called the location and someone actually picked up. Honestly, not a good experience. But I understand being a small business and relying on reviews. Their storage units and facilities are clean and well monitored. I gave 3 stars because my experience hasn't been great and there is room for improvement.

Rainwater comes in through the bottom of the garage door! I had a bedroom with some items ruined by water. The joke of insurance Mini Mall (Aviva) provided offered to cover $137 in damage. Mini Mall washes their hands of any responsibility in the matter. Other items I had in storage came out covered in mold. Photo shows water incursion after a minor amount of rain on the day I went to empty unit. This happened when the door was closed and locked. But larger rainstorms earlier in the summer caused much more water to enter.

Just got another increase!!!! Went from $132.00 -$220.00 in less than 3yrs :( I had 2 units. Closed one and moved to another storage. It is inconvenient to now have to look for yet another unit. There is no reason for these constant increases! Spoke to them. Employees are great. Their hands are tied and there really isn't snything they can do.

Since MiniMall took over this facility we have seen nothing but price increases and programs to coerce more cash from the customer. There have been no site improvements or security enhancements that were used as justification for the price increases. There are no local personnel at the facility, and you have to drive into Ottawa (Carp) to see anybody or drop off payments since they took away the convenience of e-transfer. So, I cannot really comment on the service of the staff. But the company itself is not well run and is not really customer orientated but is in the game to enhance cash flow as outlined in their prospectus. They see the market as ripe for the picking. I would not recommend this company for your storage needs.
