I spoke with Rachel on the phone and was greeted by Danielle in person at the Barrhaven Moodie location. Danielle was amazing and upgraded me to a 15 by 10 at NO EXTRA COST to accommodate my needs for a heated unit! That extra space made my move soo much easier and warmer in -20 Celsius weather! I give 4 stars instead of 5 because prices have risen a lot, about 30% in the past two years to the point it was more cost effective for us to lease a commercial lot than continue renting. And they don't have cameras in the parking area so when we sustained damage to a truck they couldn't help us find those responsible. But those are corporate issues, which I only mention in hopes the feedback will help them improve. The front office on site has always been amazing.

We have used this storage facility in the past without any issues. I like talking to someone and we live 2 minutes away from the Barrhaven location, so I booked the 3 week parking spot in person. I stated that I wanted to book from Jan 6th to January 31st, as is stated in our payment receipt. This is an outdoor spot, not an indoor location and it still cost 165 dollars. Interestingly they told me that even if you had an account with them previously, they still charge an activation fee, not to mention 4 other admin type fees. The rental fee for 3 weeks was 96.45 but with all the extra fees it came to 168.01, including taxes. This is not the issue but… We removed our car from the storage location on January 30th. We received a bill for the month of February, minus the admin fee. LOL We sent an email on February 1st disputing the charge. On February 3rd we received an email saying they would look into it. Then they added “Did you provide the 10 day notice as per the agreement that we sent”. We paid for a 10 x 15 gravel parking space, for 3 specific weeks and reviewing an agreement that was related to our car sitting outside, never entered my mind. Remember, this was booked in person, for 3 weeks in January and never a mention of the 10 day termination notice. On February 5th, we asked about the status of the refund. With no response, I went to see them in person, on February 6th and the admin said she would continue to look into it. Today, February 9th, we saw them in person again because there still had been no response and they said there would be no refund. I mentioned that we have used them in past, without any issues and the response was “They have gotten strict about the 10 day notification”. Then tell people when they book or put it in the dam email when they are all smiles and happy about accepting our money. After they get the money they don’t seem to care. Great way to run a small company!!!! The money is not a significant amount but it’s the principle of the whole situation. I hate been gouged/ripped off. Their customer service, except for 1 young receptionist is appalling.

Do not rent from this company. They have no local employees. They exist only as a 1-800 service that will very politely take your credit card information, not tell you about hidden "administration " and "account" fees, and then do nothing more for you. The 1st day I tried to access my unit, I rented a truck and arrived there with friends to unload and their electronic gate would not unlock. Their 1-800 service kept me on the line for an hour and a quarter in December weather, couldn't unlock it either, and told me the company has no employees available in the region. They didn’t offer to give me a unit in a nearby location (there are 5) and, when I asked for this, said it couldn’t be done. They hung up saying, "Thank you for calling Mini Mall Storage," leaving me by the side of the highway. This was the second time I fell victim to their 1-800 business model. Two years ago when I rented, there was also problem with my unit; their 1-800 service had trouble finding my file and didn't even had a map of their own storage facility to direct me to another vacant unit. I deeply regret giving them a second chance. This company has no employees here. Call them and, when you hear the foreign accent, hang up. Storage is an on-site service that can not be delivered via out-of-country 1-800 phone operators working out of their kitchens. But they will happily take your money. My rental truck is still sitting full and costing me money, they still haven't called me back, and now it's raining. Consider yourself warned.

I rented a storage locker from the Mini Mall Storage conglomerate in greater Ottawa. I was charged an administrative fee in the area of $30 plus the first months rent up front. I put my goods in the locker, thought I locked it & left. I got notification from Mini Mall that my locker was not locked & went back to the location only to learn that the only way to get the locker locked was to claw down on the door from the top with my 250 lbs in order to line up the locking slot. It was obvious that the locker had not been checked before it was rented to me. Mini Mall was prepared to take NO responsibility for their error!! A company with no integrity, sadly!

I rented a heated unit to store my valuable furniture as I am in the process of moving from one house and building another. I purposely paid more for the heated unit as they knew it would contain fine furniture and my leather sofa set. When my movers went to get my furniture, I found the front of my unit completely covered in dust and gravel from the road. The storage company had arranged to grind the roadway and the gravel from the road was able to enter the unit under the door. Had I been told that this was going to happen, I would have gone to cover my furniture for extra protection. No communication was ever made and I was quite surprised to see my belongs damaged by the gravel and dust. I contacted the owner and she said to put a claim through my insurance...she really didn't seem to care at all. Why would I make a claim and have my insurance premiums go up because of the negligence of 613 Storage? This company does not provide any customer service...they only care about your monthly rental payments...nothing else. Please beware if you value your belongings!!
