My Mom recently lost her home from a massive fire in her seniors residence building. When we were finally able to retrieve some of her belongings, it was spur of the moment and we had no time to plan for storage. I called St. Albert Self Storage in a panic needing a safe place to store the items immediately. I spoke with Matt hoping they could accommodate my urgent request. Matt and the St. Albert Self Storage owners had heard about the fire and they were offering help to the seniors who were now without a home. He provided instant storage as my Son was en-route with the items we had rescued. It was seamless and hassle free! Under such stressful conditions, Matt made sure we were taken care of. He was kind and empathetic to our dire situation. St. Albert Self Storage took one heavy burden off of our shoulders at just the right time. We are very grateful and appreciative for the amazing & caring customer service!

Needed a short-term rental unit and St. Albert Self Storage came up as well-reviewed and was a good location for us. Stopped in and was helped by a very friendly Matthew. When I explained what I needed Matt was helpful by locating a unit that perfectly fit our needs and he offered discounts that I didn't know about (which always leaves a good impression on me as they don't need to let me know but they did). After the original pre-paid rental period, I was a few days overdue, but Matt waived the few dollars owing and emailed me my receipt..paid in full. Excellent service!

Would highly recommend! Right from the start, the team at St Albert Self Storage were timely in responding to my questions regarding quotes, appropriate unit sizes, overall processes, etc. Clearly very knowledgeable and professional in how they dealt with communications over email or by phone. Once I arrived (with a moving truck as well) they directed us to my unit, showed me how the gates and lock work, all allowing for a stress-free situation. The facilities are clearly well maintained, and there are many security measures in place. For someone who was entirely new to the process, I feel like from start to finish everything went very smoothly, and that is owed to the staff! Thanks so much!

Also they never mentioned the change before nor after it occurred. I told them I’d be out Dec 31st, they set it up to be out by Dec 30th for some reason. Oh and I’m due a refund cheque for insurance that I was told would take 8 weeks. This is week 11 and I still haven’t been paid. Tried to call but they’re closed even tho it says they’re open another 30min online. In the end the storage unit did was it was supposed to but the place seems to be run like a chicken with its head cut off. Not pleased.

I was told to store here from a co-worker because Sabrina was incredible, both in her smarts on storing for both long term and short term options and for the industry as a whole. After calling to speak with her, I was told that she doesn't work here now. Shocking to me! The other staff is nowhere near as friendly, and in my past experience Elias has been downright awful and a creep to women. Please take your business to literally any other storage facility in St Albert. Rates and practices are downright SHADY with the company inner workings themselves, and it seems like the only person who was willing to try and benefit the customer is now gone. Next time fire the man who works here and has no respect for women, Elias instead! I can't see this company lasting longer after doing a ton of my own research on their history only to find out they're owned by a shady tenancy apartment company!

Sabrina is very knowledgeable in storage, and personable. Highly recommended, a clean and secure storage site. EDITED REVIEW AS OF TUES DEC 10 I was disappointed to find out that Sabrina is no longer with the company. I had recommended Mini Mall based on her position in management alone. The other staff, is not at all knowledgeable in storage solutions, and one staff in particular, Elias, is incredibly condescending and rude. Sabrina was unfortunately the only saving grace to this site. I will no longer be pursuing storage here due to the complete lack of storage experience amongst the remaining poor quality staff, and have urged those I recommended to come here to go anywhere else. The fee increases after such short time, and multiple admin and service fees are simply not worth it in addition to the poor service without Sabrina.

If 0 was an option, that is what I would choose. ??I have been renting a stall for my trailer since 2009 when the storage facility used to be "St. Albert Self Storage". The facility / staff / ownership had been amazing. Since Mini Mall has taken over, there has been a steady decline in everything but the prices. The fact that they claim the global economy has caused the increase is ludicrous when they have cut back in services that used to be offered. It's just a convenient excuse. In November 2023, I had both my enclosed and dump trailer parked at Mini Mall. Someone attempted to drill out the lock on the door for the enclosed trailer.??In December 2023, I arrived at my trailer to find someone damaged the door by prying it open. There were several other trailers that had also been damaged / broken into. I called the RCMP, they investigated and during the course of their investigation, it was determined that a woman who was renting a storage unit in a different lot passed her code along to her son whose truck was then caught entering into the other lots and breaking into trailers. The son denied being responsible and claimed it was a friend, but would not provide his name. In response to this, the manager at Mini Mall assured me the woman's code was disabled and if she wanted to gain access, she would have to attend the office in person; however, if charges were not laid, then she would not be removed from the facility. Fast forward to January 5, 2024. I attended the lot this morning at 0730 hrs and my dump trailer was parked in my stall. I took my enclosed trailer for work and upon returning at 1350 hrs, my dump trailer was missing. When I confronted the manager, she advised me to calm down and call the RCMP. So much like another reviewer, if you value your property, I would not utilize this business. What I have learned from November is that only half their cameras work. When asked about disabling all the codes and providing new ones for the safety / security of legitimate clients, they baulked at this. The old owners used to have a lengthy list of people waiting to get in here, now the aisles are bare and it not surprising why. I would absolutely steer clear of this farce of a "secure" storage lot and Mini Mall in general. ***** As an update, I was just advised by the RCMP that NONE of the cameras were recording at the time of the theft. ***** ***** As a further update, when I asked for reimbursement for my storage fees and compensation for my stolen trailer, I was told by the regional manager he saw my review and would only consider discussing the deductible if I agreed to take the review down. *****

Overall really disappointed in how this place is managed. Not hard to manage a storage facility but since new ownership took over they continually increased fees every month to a point where it just nickel and dimes the tenant. Having rented for a number of years its unfortunately been a slow decline. They also would not refund for an overcharge for a unexplained insurance fee and when provided the tenant insurance they would rather us leave and use a competitor than stay and simply refund the payment. Management is slow or unresponsive and the overall company is not great to deal with. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Less than 1 star.

Rented in Dec 2022 with a discount for first few months: $219.45. Regular rate in Mar 2023: $241.50. Nov 2023: $265.65 Dec 2023: $301.32 (with ridiculous $33.97 + tax in fees) $60/month increase in 10 months. Inflation or not, what has improved in that time to justify paying an extra $720/year? On top of that, someone backed into my door over the summer and I could not open my unit. They somehow didn’t notice a giant dent in my door. Why did I have to find it when I needed access to my unit? Next day I drove 40-min roundtrip to give them the key to my unit to repair the door and then drove another 40-min roundtrip 3 days later to pick it up again. Either drive to them or mail them the key. Hardly great service options. What did it get me? No goodwill and a $60/month increase. Not much for service, so what would these new fees pay for? Needless to say, they lost a customer and I would not recommend them as an option for mid- to long-term storage.

I have used this facility since 2009. once Mini-Mall took over management of the facility rates have had large increases each year and then this year they have now added massive fees. $3.99 payment $22.99 Admin fee $6.99 Facility Management fee if you want to pay by dealing with a staff member they will charge you another fee. plus over a $50 dollar rent increase per month. go with one of there competitors that won't charge these fees. i will be spending the money to move everything out of there facility as it will be cheaper then all the fees they charge and a lack of service.

I tried to sign up for the second month free deal online. I clicked through the website starting from that promo, and apparently instead of giving me that deal, it gave me the "best rate" option. I didn't know this until I was charged the second month and it was explained to me this was the case by a local employee. Keep in mind, the difference between “best rate” and “regular rate” was about $30, but I would have gotten the second month free, a value of $100 or more, if the deal as advertised was given to me. I also was billed a third month of storage even though I vacated my storage before the end of the month. Apparently, it's written in your agreement that you need to give 10 days notice before the end of the month if you are vacating the storage unit - however, no copy of the agreement was sent to me after signing, so there would have been no way for me to check this. I was 5 days away from the end of the month when I emptied my storage unit and notified them. I tried to reconcile these issues with someone over the phone at the carnegie location. They said they would look into it and never got back to me. I just checked my billing statement and saw that I'm on the hook for a third month of billing and I never got my second month free. The website is misleading and the staff didn't help resolve these issues, so prepare to pay more than you anticipated. Personally I am $150-$300 out due to poor procedures on their end. Their procedures don’t provide you with a copy of the lease detailing a termination clause, and I’m not sure at which point I would have gotten confirmation from their staff on whether I was getting the one month free deal they advertise, as they acted in accordance with their procedures. If they change their procedures I’d be happy to change my review as it would no longer be of concern to other potential customers.

Since new ownership ( Mini Mall Storage) Not the previous owners St Albert Storage where all the 5 star reviews come from because they earned it, has really gone downhill with management. There has been 2 Rent increases since the take over last summer. Lack of security and lots of theft going on. They are always asking for reviews because they are losing business. Some of the staff are GREAT who work outdoors. I would consider looking elsewhere in St. Albert or near it. Much better businesses that take pride and provide excellent customer service. There is no loyalty to customers who have been here for years. They took away all the senior incentives as well as any previous incentives that they had. We moved our trailer and emptied our storage garage to another company with better rates and they treat customers the proper way. I suppose the lack of management and poor customer service is worth the loss of clients.

Worst staff don't wanna .work with people find another storage will rip you off and high prices and charge fees no one else does theirs

Don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews. Those were earned by the previous owners. St. Albert Self Storage was taken over by Mini Mall Storage last fall and things went downhill fast. It was a family run business that was deserving of the great reviews based on the high standards under which they operated. Almost as soon as the facility was taken over, the vast majority of staff either left or was let go (not sure which). In addition to those running the front desk, there used to be numerous staff operating throughout the facility during office operating hours; constantly cleaning, maintaining and repairing issues with individual units or the facility in general; emptying garbage cans; clearing snow in the winter; and picking up the winter's sand and gravel in the spring. First, prices increased and all pre-pay discounts immediately went away. Many (most?) long term tenants used to pay for 12 months at a time, as this is almost universally how leases generally work...commitment in exchange for a discounted and/or guaranteed rate. Now everyone pays the same regardless of whether it's your first month or you're a 10 year tenant, and rates are subject to change with extremely little notice. Well, actually, that's not entirely true. The website offers some seemingly decent discounts to new customers (not sure how long these discounts last), but to the long termers, absolutely nada. On that note, there seems to be a huge amount of vacant units these days and I'm not sure if that's a result of people leaving due to how the facilty is now run, or if it's just the natural ebb and flow of the market. Anyway. Security used to consist of a Manager who lived on site, the aforementioned staff during operating hours, CCTV cameras, an automated gate with a keypad, and a dedicated roving on site security patrol that operated from office close until at least the time automatic gates were shut down (10 p.m.), this patrol circulated through the entire facility on an almost constant basis (almost annoyling so, but I sure do miss it now). The code for keypad access used to consist of your unique storage unit number combined with a 4 digit PIN. Now security consists of the cameras (albeit they seemed to have added a few more) and the 2 or 3 staff working in the office during opening hours; no more Manager living on site, no more dedicated security patrol. Keypad access no longer requires a unit number and only requires a PIN that, as far as I've discovered, now only requires a minimum of 2 digits to be entered between the # and * symbols. It may only require 1, I just never tried. I ain't no Rocket Surgeon, but it's really not too difficult to pick a 2 digit combination using only 10 possible characters...it took me exactly 1 try and I'm not that lucky... With regard to snow removal and ice control, it used to be carried out on a constant basis as needed. The facility staff operated facility owned snow removal equipment and they were constantly on top of things. There were shovel brigades, a quad and tractors with plows and a large John Deere tractor with a snow blower. That equipment seems to have disappeared shortly after the takeover, as this past winter snow removal/ice control was almost non-existant. I believe they had a third party(?) snow removal crew in once that I witnessed. A crew that did a horrible job. For the rest of the winter, maintenance consisted of dumping copious quantities of sand and gravel over an ever increasing ice pack. That, and sticking orange traffic cones in the sewer inlets so you didn't drop a wheel in one and get stuck. It got so bad, some unit doors were frozen shut under inches of ice and had to be chipped open. Once melting, there was a danger of water flowing into some units. The concrete of the unit floors are a couple of inches above the laneway grades, so that takes a bit. It's May 26 as I write this review, and there have been no attempts at cleaning any of that gravel up, the laneways are now basically gravel roads. I really hope things improve -- and quickly -- but optimism is lacking.

Used to be a good place once upon a time now that they are now mini mall storage that are scammers and theives that charge crazy rediculous fees to make sure low income people can never catch up on payments. There is 660.00 in payments that i made in may and june that was never repórted and was told yesterday wont be even though i have proof they got the payments. I made a Payment plan to pay 400.00 a month until it is paid off and was told with this Payment plan i wont get charged 3 different late fees every couple days yet yesterday was told i Will be charged 100 for december late fees Plus 175.00 for an auction fee and my rent is only 187.00 a month and after paying 1200.00 since october its still way higher than it was in october Plus im having to pay another 660 that was already paid in may and june so please stay away from using this storage place they are now terrible and dont have a sweet clued on how to properly do paperwork which i have actual proof of. I am in the process now of taking them to court. Everyone needs to look into their payments and charges to make sure that there isnt any payments made that are not repórted as being paid. I carente e i am not the only one thus had been done to
