Bartlett, TN: A Beautiful Place to Live and Play
A city of nearly 60,000 located just outside Memphis, Bartlett, TN originally came about as a stagecoach depot in the early 1800s. Now a thriving suburb of Memphis, the city continues to expand due to its location near the heart of Shelby County and its excellent school system. Strong job centers nearby, abundant shopping, and well-planned neighborhoods have also been important draws. We’re proud to be part of the Bartlett community, and we’d like to focus on two of our favorite aspects of the city: community events and parks and recreation.
Outdoor Recreation
For those who love the outdoors, it’s surprisingly as close to you as the city itself here in Bartlett. In addition to being on the beautiful Mississippi River, Bartlett is home to more than 30 parks and greenspaces for you to enjoy! Nesbit Park alone covers more than 335 acres of land with approximately 11 miles of mountain bike trails and 2.5 for running and hiking. Looking for a more relaxing experience? Mark S. Brown Municipal Park has its own Japanese Garden to enjoy. Those looking for more activities won’t be disappointed by the Bobby K. Flaherty Municipal Center, which is home to the Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center, the Bartlett YMCA, a softball complex, and Appling Lake.
Special Events in the City
In addition to events in the nearby city of Memphis, Bartlett also puts on its own regular yearly events for members of the community! These include the Fireworks Extravaganza, Children’s Fishing Rodeo, Christmas Parade, and the Bartlett Festival with BBQ Contest and Car Show. Held in October of every year, the Bartlett Festival offers vendors of all kinds selling art, food, and merchandise in addition to having live music, the Judge Freeman Marr Panther Pride 5k, a cooking competition, and a car show. The event’s BBQ cooking competition continues a long tradition of Memphis-style barbecue in a family-friendly format that’s fun for all ages.
